Title: President Zuma to lead SADC Troika meeting

Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma will lead a South African delegation to the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Extra-Ordinary Troika Summit to be hosted in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on Thursday.

Zuma will be supported by the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, who is already in Dar es Salaam for the Ministerial Committee of the Organ (MCO) Troika meeting, which is currently underway.

High on the agenda are the reports on the recent political and security developments in the DRC and Madagascar, as well as Zimbabwe's elections.

South Africa's Department of International Relations and Cooperation said SADC continued to serve as the primary vehicle for the country's foreign policy to achieve regional development and integration within Southern Africa.

"South Africa has a vested interest in seeing the regional political and security situation improve, which will create positive conditions for the improvement of the quality of life of South Africans and SADC citizens in general," said the department.

President Zuma is attending the meeting in his capacity as the Chair of the Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation. He will be joined by the Presidents of Namibia Hifikepunye Pohamba, Tanzania Jakaya Kikwete and Mozambique Armando Guebuza, who all form the organ. - SAnews.gov.za
